I found that when my students were writing persuasive essays, they had a specifically difficult time writing the body paragraphs. I made this success rubric to help the students write and revise their body paragraphs.
After they write the paragraph, they use crayons with a partner to make sure they have all elements that are on the rubric. For example, they can visually see that they don't have purple, so that means they will need to add a direct quote to their paragraph. This has made writing essays more fun and their paragraphs turn out amazing!!
We have done two persuasive units. The first time around I use the first rubric. The second time around, I use the second rubric, which has the student add personal experience to their writing.
