This fun, simple sort is based on a short essay about why ninjas are better than pirates. The sentences are split up - out of order - so students can cut them apart before organizing the essay correctly. It includes a hook, topic sentence, 3 key ideas, 3 sets of supporting details, a rebuttal sentence, and a concluding sentence. It's a great way for students to practice organizing ideas in a fun format. I like to kick off this lesson by having students share whether they think pirates or ninjas are superior, and brainstorming reasons why.
