This assessment task requires students to work in pairs, write a script and then perform a debate for the class.
Students choose a topic from the list provided and, in pairs, one student writes an introduction and 'against' argument which will alternate with their partner's 'for' argument and conclusion.
Students demonstrate their knowledge of persuasive writing techniques through their script. The task covers both written and spoken modes of assessment.
An assessment rubric is also provided which complies with the Australian Curriculum guidelines, but can also be adapted to suit schools in other countries.
