Product Description
Get your students to write to Santa while keeping in mind some persuasive writing techniques. Included are 3 steps. Step 1 is planning the letter to Santa where students can use an outline to get their thoughts and ideas down. Step 2 is a rough draft of their letter. Step 3 is their final letter to Santa. Included is also a rubric for assessment and a picture of the anchor charts I use when doing/teaching this activity. I also usually read the book "Dear Santa, Please Don't Come This Year" which teaches that children can sometimes be selfish and there are many in the world who need much more than we do (and that does not mean toys). It's a good lead into this activity because rather than just asking Santa for all the things we want, we can focus on having a conversation, and proving why we deserve the one or two things we are asking for.
