Persuasive writing unit. Fun super hero themed unit, aligned with the common core standards. This unit is designed to guide teachers and walk students through the persuasive writing process.
It follows the gradual release model where the teacher uses the provided text as an example for students to draw knowledge from. Students can use the set activities and black-line masters to practice writing under the teacher’s guidance. Then students are given the opportunity to independently practice the structure or feature learnt in small bites.
At the end of the unit students should have a clear understanding of the structure of a persuasive. Without even realizing, through all the small bite size activities, they have already written their own persuasive text! Students should then be able to use the support clues to independently write their own persuasive with confidence.
