This document contains two pages. The first page is a graphic organizer students use to develop their ideas for a persuasive paragraph. They write a topic sentence, three reasons with facts/examples, and a closing sentence. The second page has directions for color-coding the rough draft of their paragraphs (this could be used as an assessment). They color-code the requirements listed on the graphic organizer. It also has directions for revising and editing their paragraphs. The second page also includes a rubric that can be used to grade the paragraphs. The rubric includes grading criteria for ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, and presentation.
This was originally created to go along with writing lesson 8 in HMH Journeys, but it could be used by any class that is learning how to write a persuasive paragraph.
