For use in the beginning stages of Persuasive Writing or Speeches. Use all four elements of persuasion to captivate your audience.
Students choose a topic, then based on the academic level and tolerance level of the class, the teacher chooses how many "bullets" each student should produce for each of the four elements. Currently, the document is designed for three bullets each. Can be modified as teacher sees fit.
The four elements include: examples, quotations, statistics and definitions. Teacher is to explain to students that in order to defend persuasion, all of these elements are necessary in a good argument. That is why these four fit together as a "puzzle;" if one element is missing, their case will not be as strong to persuade their audience.
This graphic organizer can be used to begin a writing piece, a written speech, etc. or can be used to simply guide students through the beginning stages of the understanding of persuasion. Can be used individually or in the partner groups.
