This specific assignment was used after studying the Colonial works of Paine, Henry, Jefferson, etc. in an English III Colonialism unit. Students are prompted to give a persuasive speech, utilizing different persuasive elements, and deliver it to their classmates. I pair students up (one on pro side, one on con side) and provide a list of approved topics to pick from.
