This product is a media literacy unit I do with my middle school students. Please see the preview to see a sample of the pages that come with this unit. These pages can be used in interactive notebooks. If you want them to go into a binder, just do a test print to get the size you like. This product comes with the following pages:
*Notes on Types of Persuasive Techniques: (Ethos, Pathos, Logos)
*Cut and paste activity sorting persuasive techniques (Ethos, Pathos, Logos)
*Notes on persuasive techniques
*Notes on literary device used as persuasive techniques
*A table for students to list products in ads and persuasive techniques used in those ads. For copyright reasons, I have not provided the ads I use. Teachers can find ads on the Internet on a variety of products such as shampoo, toothpaste, phones, computers, cereal, chips, fragrances, etc. Display these on your smartboard and have the students record their answers.
*An assignment page to analyze an advertisement and the persuasive techniques used.
*A writing assignment to discuss the persuasive techniques used in the ad and the impact these persuasive techniques have on the consumers.
*An interview writing activity to describe if consumers are influenced by persuasive techniques.
*This also comes with an assignment for students to create their own original ad.
*Two assessments of 10 examples that are used with word bank
*Two additional assessments of the vocabulary and examples
*A word search to practice 10 of the vocabulary words.
I use this product every year to teach the media literacy portion of our curriculum.
