This power point presentation may be used to introduce a unit on persuasion or to reinforce an understanding of persuasive techniques. The slides provide an overview of persuasion in advertising and then guide students in analyzing pathos, ethos, and logos in TV commercials. The included examples are accessible for a variety of students, and the lesson could easily be adapted to accommodate different age groups and interests. It was originally designed for middle school students, but it could also work with a high school audience.
The power point is designed to be used in conjunction with a corresponding document entitled "Analyzing Types of Persuasion in Advertising" (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Analyzing-Types-of-Persuasion-in-Advertising-2711053), which is available for purchase in my store. Please let me know if the links included in the presentation are no longer accessible, and I will be more than willing to update the information or provide alternative examples.
The thumbnails may show that the graphics have shifted, but if downloaded to Microsoft PowerPoint, the presentation should retain its intended formatting.
