Students were able to voice their opinion in a real way through this assignment. Students wrote persuasive letters to school admin on topics that mattered to them (e.g., school lunch, school hours, etc.). Writing used basic 5 paragraph structure as a guide. Students were expected to use a strong hook/attention getter, a visible and correctly written thesis statement, and effective body paragraphs. They worked on expressing facts to support their opinions.
