A great way to combine 21st century skills with the tried-and-true methods of persuasion!
Tired of the same old boring persuasive paper to teach the art of persuasive writing? Why not give your students a real opportunity to publish their writing? This activity is the perfect lesson for teaching the power of persuasive words and the basics of ethos, pathos and logos.
Students are asked to write a positive review and a critical review on a restaurant, using persuasive techniques learned and discussed in class. These reviews will then be published (after teacher approval) on Google! Studies show that students invest more in their writing when they know the audience is bigger than just their teacher. What's great is that the kids can monitor their reviews throughout the school year.
