This unit includes 40 writing prompt cards and response sheets. Students are asked to make a decision between two choices, then support their choice through writing. The activities lend well to opinion/persuasive/argumentative writing lessons.
Students enjoy using their critical thinking skills to decide between two positive situations (Would you rather be invisible or able to read minds?) or two negative ones (Would you rather pet a porcupine or kiss a frog?).
This unit works brilliantly in a writing center, but can also be used as whole-class or collaborative writing activities. The prompts also work as ice-breakers and oral discussion starters.
