A roll the dice game that gets students to use different persuasive writing strategies when sharing their arguments.
In pairs, students select a topic from a pile to argue about. They select whether they are going to be agreeing or disagreeing. One student then rolls the dice. Whichever technique they land on they need to use when they share (verbally) their reasons with their partner.
The techniques include:
- Rhetorical Questions
- Fact and Distortion
- Emotive Language
- Technical Language
- Colloquial Language
- Fancy Language
Included in this product are 3 pages of topics to use for debate and discussion that can be cut into strips.
There is also an optional worksheet for pairs to record their answers.
Also available in my store is the Writing Techniques Poster Set
which supplements the techniques used in this game.
