Product Description

Rhetorical appeals are the building blocks for persuasive and argumentative writing. This no prep project is a fun classroom-tested activity for Persuasive or Rhetorical Appeals (Ethos Pathos Logos) that I use as an exercise in practicing persuasive appeals during our argumentative writing unit. It's also perfect as a sub plan!

Student Experience: Students show their understanding of ethos, pathos, and logos with this real-world project. Students accept the challenge of selling something unique - square watermelons - using the appeals. They'll create either a website ad or a radio commercial ad and then pitch their ideas to the class.

Included in this teaching pack:

1) slideshow instructions for the task

2) two different RAFT (role, audience, format, topic) options: Website and Radio Ad. Digital "website" template via Google and printable website template

3) rubric

4) ticket-out reflection

5) common core standards

6) images and suggestions needed for teaching

7) brainstorming page for students

8) 100% editable
