Description
Have you thought about having a class pet, but don’t want to add one more thing to take care of in your classroom? Well, I have the perfect solution---a take-home stuffed animal! Kids love it and there is no cage or tank to clean out!
Having a traveling class pet was by far the most popular class pet I ever had. Kids couldn’t wait for their week to take home the pet and have it be part of their life for a few days. Of course, I had to include a journal for the kids to write in through the week.

Class Pet Take-Home Journal
This resource includes pages and instructions for putting together a classroom pet journal. For this journal, the class has a stuffed animal pet that travels home with students. While the pet is in a student's home, the student writes in the journal. The pet and journal are returned to school, and then the student shares the journal entry.
The PowerPoint version of the Class Pet Journal are editable. You can click on any text box to make changes. The images cannot be changed because they are part of the background.
Personal Pet Journal
Now each student in your class can have a pet journal. It's a great writing activity to go along with a get-to-know-you unit, or animal unit.
The non-editable journal pages are copied and stapled into a personal journal. Students can keep the journal for a pet they have, a personal stuffed animal, or a pet they would like to have.
