My class always loves this craft! After reading Pete the Cat I Love my White Shoes, students can make their own cute Pete the Cat. I have my students share with the class what their Pete stepped in that made the shoes that color. For example, if they said their Pete stepped in strawberries then they will color the shoes red.The students write the word red in their sentence and cut out the words. We make an anchor chart showing what each Pete stepped in. The outline of Pete can be copied on blue construction paper or you can have your students color it blue. The shoes can also be copied on different colors of construction paper or the students can color the shoes. For the eyes and whiskers, I have my students make their own. It is a great way to have your students practice color words.
