Product Description
I created these cards for use with your students as you study Peter and the Wolf. While you are busy studying the connections between the characters and the instruments and teaching the musical themes for each character, here is a fun way to keep up with your rhythmic reading skills as you are working through your own Peter and the Wolf Unit.
Have your students work as a large or small group to practice creating and reading rhythms. Students may create their own rhythms individually or in small groups. OR have your students follow Prokofiev's lead and select instruments for each of the characters in the file, create rhythms and then perform on the assigned instruments.
This download has 28 cards that review rhythms including quarter, two eighths, and quarter rest. I have also included 24 cards with images of common rhythm instruments that could be used to play various rhythms. You may prefer to print the instrument cards on the backs of the rhythmic cards or print them separately to post with a rhythmic card.
I hope you find this useful in your teaching. I would love to hear from you how you used these cards. I know you guys out there are a creative bunch!
