Differentiate your guided reading as follows:
Level 1: “Pets” is an emergent reader, simple sight words with picture clues for the other vocabulary words: fish, bird, turtle, hamster, cat, dog
Sight Words: a, is, the, pet, best
Level 2: “Pets” is a harder version, more sight words, picture clues, and longer sentences.
Sight Words: you, and, for, have, food, need, cage, seeds, water, tank, bowl, wheel, dish, leash, because
Level 3: “Pets” is the hardest version with words such as: can, will, help, get, go, like, on, or, are, must, live, or, be, good, also, walk, eat, some, should, top, when, kept, house, night, inside, outside, clean, swim, climb, plants, idea, sprinkle, important, exercise, check-up, breathe, covered, perch, veterinarian
Use for guided reading, and send home for extra practice.
