Matter, Matter, Matter! Use this Complete Lesson, which includes:
Lesson Plan
Fun Video/Slide Show (with a professional voice over - thank you Mark Atherlay!)
Engage/Warm Up Activity - using observation skills
Anchor Chart - a teacher version, and a student version. You can project the teacher version while you teach. Your students will fill in the blanks, helping them learn important note taking skills. Have them fold and add to their science journals.
Collaborate/Group Activity - Students will identify and sort cards/objects as Solid, Liquid, or Gas. There are some that are tricky, like a pot of boiling water. They will need to reason and justify how they sorted the words.
Discussion Cards - I love the discussion cards! Students have an opportunity to use higher level thinking as they answer questions that use vocabulary that can be challenging (and that can help them with standardized testing).
Harness/Individual Activity - Students will rearrange letters to create real words that match the matter definitions. Next, they will draw a picture of the word that illustrates the vocabulary.
Success! Assess the learning with a multiple choice quiz. The quiz uses diagrams and vocabulary that follows the format of standardized tests.
Answer Key - The complete answer key will help make grading easy!
Happy Teaching!
