Product Description
This Lesson Plan Bundle includes three detailed LPs, with links to various videos/activities. It includes HW and reading assignments and a Quiz at the end of the mini-unit.

The overarching goal of the first lesson is to teach students about the phases of the moon. This fits into the ‘bigger picture’ because it will help all students to understand why the moon has different shapes in the sky at different times.

Objectives: As a result of this lesson, SWBAT:
• List the phases of the moon (new, waxing crescent, 1st quarter, waxing gibbous, full, waning gibbous, 3rd quarter, and waning crescent).
• Explain how the sun and the moon’s system create the phases

The overarching goal of the second lesson is to teach students about how the moon affects the tides. This fits into the ‘bigger picture’ because it will help all students to understand why the tides rise up and go down.

Objectives: As a result of this lesson, SWBAT:
• Differentiate between neap and spring tides.
• Explain how the moon controls the tides.

The overarching goal of the third lesson is to teach students about what causes the seasons. This fits into the ‘bigger picture’ because it will help all students to understand why we have a winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Objectives: As a result of this lesson, SWBAT:
• Explain how the tilt of the earth and its revolution around the sun result in an uneven heating of the earth, which in turn causes the seasons.
• Differentiate between the northern and southern hemispheres and why they have opposite seasons.
