This Philosophy for Children lesson and discussion plan looks at the philosophical topic of ethics. It does so by analysing two of the fundamental ethics theories, utilitarianism and deontology, using one of the most famous though experiments in philosophy; the trolley problem. Students will gain a greater understanding of how they come to make ethical judgements over the course of this study.
This is a multiple lesson packs, comprising about 3 lessons worth of discussion material.
All children from preschool to senior high school can think about ethics, and this lesson can be adapted to fit all learners.
