This Philosophy for Children lesson and discussion plan looks at feminism in modern society. It does so by analysing two different stimuli. The first is a video created by the prefects at Sydney Boys' High School about why feminism is important to them. The video aims to promote feminism and has received international praise and recognition. The second is a short article written by the prefects at Sydney Girls' High School criticising the video and the manner in which the boys were attempting to promote feminism.
Students will delve into a discussion investigating the complexities and subtleties of modern feminism. Two opposing sides - both of which claim to promote feminism - will be compared and students will analyse both and come to their own conclusions in a community of inquiry.
This product contains the lesson plan, the video, and the article.
