Phoneme Grapheme Mapping helps students identify the number of phonemes (sounds) in a word and associate them with the letters (grapheme) that represent each sound.
Students write each individual sound in a box and write the full word at the end. To extend their learning have students identify the syllable types that make up each word. You can even have students label the vowels as long/short, draw syllable lines, etc. The possibilities are endless!
This can be used with any word list and can be used with any grade level! It is a great resource to use as you teach the 7 syllable types!
