Thank you so much for viewing this quick little intervention set. It was designed to engage the students in a brief session of phoneme isolation of initial sounds. Directions for use are included.
*picture cards from pack that are laminated and cut out
How to use:
Say: I’m going to say a word and I want you to tell me the first sound of the word I say. What is the first sound in the word top? (The child should say /t/. Do the same with each of the picture cards from the pack. Each time the child gets the sound correct, give them the card to hold as a reward.
This could even be done as a game in a small group.
Continue doing this intensely with the remaining syllable cards for about 5 minutes or so.
Use again daily if possible until the student has a firm understanding of phoneme isolation of initial sounds.
