Do you have Google Classroom, but need some digital resources to use with it? These hands-on phoneme segmentation cards are no prep when you already have Google Classroom. Simply assign students the file and get to work!
This resource is the version for Google use! Find the PowerPoint version by clicking here.
Did I also mention it can be used on tablets? Say what? Yup, you can use this on a tablet, iPad, Chromebook, computer, or you can even project them with a SMARTboard or other interactive whiteboard! (SMARTboard use is an option, you don't need it to use this resource if you plan on simply using it on a computer or tablet.) *Tech specs below.
Not only that, but this resource for phonemic awareness stands out from simple games on tablets because it automatically saves their work. That means accessibility to view their phonics work for assessment purposes.
Includes the Following:
•100 Phoneme Segmentation Cards Covering CVC Words
•Broken into three sets of 33-34 slides each (You can resave them under a different name and break them up smaller if you like too!)
If you already use Google™ Classroom, you only need to simply assign students a file and you are set! It is simple like handing them a sheet of paper! I have broken these down into chewable chunks for each file, and I even got all your differentiation already organized for you too!
Please view the preview for more details about this resource. Especially please read the tech specifications page to make sure you can use this.
What I LOVE about using resources in Google Apps:
•Their work saves automatically!
•Because their work saves automatically, I can easily check their work (and not bring home a heavy bag full of paper clutter!)
•Normally, in a center with activities like this you don't get to see all their work. Only perhaps, a recording sheet. Here, you can see their work!
•Kids love using technology. It's engaging!
•It is still hands-on.
•It can be used on a tablet or iPad too!
There are some technical requirements to use this resource. First off, this resource is in Google Slides format, so you will need to access to that software to use this resource. Additionally, I highly recommend you have student accounts by using Classroom by Google. If you don't have Google Classroom, please get with your tech department to set this up before purchasing this resource. Yes, they do offer it free to non-profit educational institutions, but there are some hoops to get through. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS RESOURCE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE GOOGLE CLASSROOM SET-UP ALREADY. You will also need internet access to use this resource.
With that said, you can use this resource with Google Drive, however, Classroom allows you to assign students the activity and makes it so much more simple to use! There are also age restrictions with setting up a Google Drive account, but that is not an issue with Google Classroom. Please note, I provided a blogpost here with links for getting started with Classroom by Google. However, I still recommend you seek help from your tech department. Get to blog post here.
***For Interactive Whiteboard/ Smartboard use: To use any dragging/dropping features, your interactive whiteboard will need the feature that performs mouse functions with touch in programs outside of their software. Basically, the touch feature takes the place of how you would use a mouse in other applications such as Google Slides, surfing the internet, etc. If using. This feature that allows the computer to use touch on the screen to function like a mouse may sometimes only work in the software of whatever brand interactive whiteboard you are using, so make sure you can use that feature in other applications before purchase if you plan to use this resource on an interactive whiteboard.***

Please note, this resource is for personal, classroom use only. One license is for one teacher, so please do not share this resource with other teachers. I work incredibly hard and sacrifice much of my free time in an effort to pay down my student loans and support 39 orphans that my sister-in-law raises in India. Please be kind and use this resource with integrity. Also, I am not affiliated or associated with Google, nor do they endorse this resource. This resource is simply a resource that can be used with their software/apps.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Candy Class!
