This is a phonemic awareness card game. Students will work on phoneme segmentation. This is great practice for PSF on the DIBELS. There are 40 cards. Each card has a picture of a three sound word, both long and short vowels are included. Students will take turns picking a card, and touching and saying the sounds in the word. There are also 16 cards that have either go again, or lose a turn. Students will love playing this game at centers, intervention, or independent work time.
To prep the game: Print the cards on cardstock, or laminate for long term use. Cut out the cards, and place them upside down in a pile. Let students take turns picking a card. The student can touch and say the sounds on the card or use chips to push out the sounds. Game is over when time is up or all the cards are gone. You could have the winner be the student with the most segmenting cards, or just play for fun!
