Phonemic awareness is an important building block for reading success. This resource focuses on phoneme substitution of initial, medial, and final letter sounds. Includes 12 activity cards and 36 picture cards.
Students say the name of each picture, substituting either the beginning, middle, or end sound as indicated on the card. They say the new word formed and place the corresponding picture card in the space.
There are 4 cards for initial sound substitution, 4 for medial, and 4 for final. Uses only CVC words. These can be used as a literacy center or for practice during guided reading.
