How do I use the Flip and Teach Booklets?
Use these prompt cards/booklets during whole group, or small group instructional lessons.
Fashion as a booklet, or laminate and use as cards.
Label pictures with students. Model how to listen to end sounds for example. Note rhymes orally.
Use the prompt questions to promote oral responses
Lesson How to:
First, where possible, introduce the lesson with a story, poem told story or song which illustrates the skill you are teaching.
Introduce the skill by name. Discuss that students will need to listen for small sounds in words, and give examples.
Move through the FLIP AND TEACH booklet slowly repeating questions where necessary. Stop when students are repeatedly miss hearing or don’t understand. Revisit again the next day, a few pages prior to where you finished.
Make note of students who seem to be struggling, not participating, or who are silent. Group this targeted set of students and use the booklet in a smaller group.
