This money-saving bundle consists of Set 1 and Set 2 of ‘Stepping Stones’ phonemic awareness activities.
These 'Stepping Stones' activities focus on the beginning sounds of words and are a fun way to tune your young students into initial phoneme identification.
In this bundle, a 'Stepping Stones' activity and a blackline worksheet is provided for each of the following 12 sounds: /s/, /m/, /w/, /f/, /l/, /p/, /b/, ‘j’, /v/, /t/, /k/ and /h/. These sounds have visual and kinesthetic cues that are easily identifiable – drawing attention to these cues can help to build your students' phonemic awareness. Remind your students that not only can you hear speech sounds, but lots of times you can also SEE and FEEL your mouth making them!
Getting ready for the activity...
Print off and then cut along the center line of each colored page to separate each activity from its answer key. Laminate for repeated use with dry-erase markers. Clip the answer key to the back or keep it separate.
The blackline worksheets can be used as extension activities.
If you’d like further information about visual and kinesthetic cues of consonant sounds, please take a look at my Speech Sound Articulation Posters pack. The posters are useful reference tools to have on hand while working on phonemic awareness activities – the pack is available here.
