In my classroom, I use these cards Monday-Thursday to practice detecting rhyme, counting syllables in words, counting words in sentences, blending and segmenting parts of words, isolating phonemes, adding phonemes, and deleting phonemes.
I have seen a major improvement in my student’s letter-sound associations and their ability to decode and sound out words.
These are meant to be quick, simple, and practiced each week. I usually spend no more than five minutes on these task cards each day so that I do not lose the attention of my kindergarteners.
Incorporating this into your daily phonics routine, morning meeting, or wrap up time will greatly improve your students’ phonics skills!
Simply print, laminate, and cut out each card. I keep mine organized on a single binder ring, and I hang it from the corner of my dry erase board.
I hope you enjoy this handy resource!
