This package has a BOARD GAME and two sets of cards:
--- Set 1 - Magic e (28 beginnings and 28 endings)
--- Set 2 - ar-ay-vowel y (long i) and ow words (30 beginnings and 30 endings)
This game focuses on blending, an essential skill for successful reading. Players have to match beginnings and endings to make 4 REAL WORDS to win. There is a WORD BANK included for each set so players can check their own words and make this an independent activity. I give each player a WORD BANK card and find that they check each other's words anyway. Even when players try to blend non-words, they are developing their blending ability.
This is a great game for those students who have difficulty in sounding out words. All the words have one syllable and you can combine the word banks from all the phases to target specific sounds you want your students to master. By combining phases you can differentiate for different ability levels. I
I have bundled the games from Phases 1, 2 and 3 as I believe these phases are the foundation for literacy and games are the best way to provide the repetition that some students need.
