This particular curriculum is in a direct instruction format. It promotes kinesthetic learning while learning sounds and phonemes in an engaging manner (pages 1 – 60). I’ve also duplicated the 30 day lessons (found after the original 30 days, pages 61 - 120) in order to offer an alternative delivery format to include manipulatives in place of motions. Use either delivery format that best suits the needs of your students. I recommend alternating days and using both kinesthetic moves and manipulatives. The lessons are exactly the same, so it is easy to switch up your instruction, keep to the 30 day block, and keep track of the lesson you are currently on for that day. The last page is for your pre and post scores data collection or just a snapshot of where they’re at. (page 121)
The curriculum can be used 5 minutes a day during class time or through a 6 week intervention block. You can repeat the 6-week lessons cycle as many times as you’d like throughout the school year (based on student need). If you aren’t assessing, correct student mistakes and have the student repeat the correct response based on your prompt and support them. If they get the answers correct, provide a lot of positive support. Lessons are 5 minutes scripted with teacher prompt and student responses. Please use letter sounds and spoken words as prompts and accept these as appropriate responses. Please do not use letter names, spell words, or use letters or words as visual cues in this instruction. Like me, I’m sure your day is packed with curriculum instruction, but if you can carve out 5 minutes a day, it will be well worth it!
