Phonemic Awareness is the ability to hear the sounds in words. This set includes listening activities to support phonemic awareness that are directed by the teacher. This set is great practice for Kindergarten and First Grade reading intervention or RTI groups.

This set includes practice for the following skills:
Counting how many words are in a sentence
Beginning sounds
Ending sounds
Middle sounds
Rhyming Words
Segmenting Words
Substituting sounds

To give you an idea of how much practice their is for each skill...when beginning sounds are practiced, each day there are 15 words to practice with (different words each day). There are also six sets of words that students have to decide if they begin the with the same sound.
CVC words, CVCe words, and words with blends (truck, slide, clock, etc) are included.

Directions are included.

*There are also 12 different large pictures (5.3 inches x 4.6 inches) that can be used for rhyming. The same cards are also included in a smaller size (1.5 inches x 2.0 inches).
*There are 32 rhyming cards that were added on 9-22-16
*There are Word Counters and Sound Counters included.
*There are 18 picture cards where students count the sounds they hear when they say the word.
***This file was updated to include additional ink-friendly picture cards!! These new cards also include long vowels sounds and blends.

Covers Common Core Foundational Skills:
RF.K.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
RF.K.2a Recognize and produce rhyming words.
RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.1 (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.2e Add or substitute individual sounds (phonemes) in simple, one-syllable words to make new words.
