Phonemic Awareness: Rhyming iPads is a fun anytime of the year resource for practicing rhyming words. This download includes 48 rhyming pairs, including CVC, one syllable, and multisyllabic words. There are four iPad frames per page, each displaying a colorful graphic to use for rhyming practice. I will add more multisyllabic rhyming words and update buyers to re-download as my clipart collection grows.
These cards can be used many different ways during either small group instruction or literacy centers. Use in a pocket chart as a matching game or lay them out upside down in a grid and play as memory game. In small group put three cards out and have students decide which word does not match. Put them in random order on a book ring and carry them with you for transition spots during the school day: Hold up a card and have a student orally give you a rhyming word while waiting in line at the bathroom, in the cafeteria, or for an auxiliary class. Differentiate your activity easily by choosing how many cards or pairs are available. However you use them, I hope your students will love using the colorful graphics.
