Students need to see how words work together. These are great as an incentive for good work, as well as great bookmarks for student's independent reading. My students love to collect them and keep them in their book box or in class book bag. I even encourage them to exchange them with other students; sort of like trading cards. Have your students use dry erase markers to underline the word parts that are the same or even how they are different. The cards are numbers to provide a means of keeping track of the cards they have. The numbers are also to help you, they get increasingly more difficult with the higher numbers. This way there are cards for varying levels in your classroom.
