Phonic Poems Workbook
I have created these poems and illustrated them myself for new and struggling readers as I could only ever find poems loaded with non-decodable words, which doesn't help a struggling child!
This free resource contains the 'ay' sound and includes a simple, easy to read poem and three worksheets. I have taught countless children to read and am a busy tutor working with children 4-11. These poems, I believe, fill a gap in the market and are proving very popular with my 5 and 6 year old children. They love the fact that they can 'read' the whole poem!
How to use:
Introduce the sound to the child and ask them to read and repeat the sound a few times.
Now ask them to look through the poem and find the sound in the words. They can highlight or draw a box around the sound.
Now ask them to read the poem to you. Repeat until they can read it fluently.
After they have read the poem they can use the free worksheets to read and write the words in the blank spaces and boxes.
I ask the child to read the word before and after they have written it for added reinforcement.
