This letter tile set is the perfect way to introduce and review letter sounds with emergent readers. They can be printed on cardstock, laminated, and a magnetic button can be placed on the back to create an easy and versatile manipulative for whole and small group phonics instruction.
IN MY OWN CLASSROOM:
I start the year off by allowing the students to create motions to go along with each sound. For example, one year I may have a class who sees the ‘Short A’ tile and decides to pretend to bite into an apple while chanting the ‘Short A’ sound, while the following year another class chooses to pretend to pick apples out of a tree. This is essential to incorporating kinesthetic learning along with traditional auditory and visual instruction for my students.
I use these each morning to review weekly spelling patterns. My students look forward to spelling time each day and I hope it will have the same effect in your own classroom.
*I always greatly appreciate your feedback, as it helps me improve the quality of my resources!*
