Write the Room activities are a great way to get your students up and moving while they practice their reading skills at the same time. I use QR codes in my ‘write the room’ center to increase student engagement while my students are practicing their phonics skills! To prepare this activity just print, laminate, and cut apart the picture cards and print the corresponding recording sheet. You can place the cards in a center, or around the room for a scavenger hunt! Then have the students use their device (iPod, iPad, etc.) with the QR code reader to scan the code. Students will then write the word that goes with the picture on the provided recording sheet.
I made these phonics write the room task cards to coincide with my phonics progression at school. Each hunt covers a specific phonics skill. Each skill has ten task cards, so there are a total of 50 write the room task cards included in this set.
This phonics write the room set ONLY includes task cards for: short a, short e, short i, short o and short u
