Phonics Bookmarker Pockets are intended to provide students with practice time to review words and phonics patterns. They encourage fluency of words that students have already learned. While these bookmarkers could of course be used to help students initially learn the words, they are not specifically designed to do so. The cards are set up as mixed review, so they don’t focus on one particular pattern at a time, but rather two or three. This makes it more difficult for a student who needs to focus on a particular phonics rule to learn the words. On the other hand it often seems like students only know the words when isolated by the phonics pattern.
This set includes cards for short and long vowels, beginning and ending blends, plurals, ll and ck words, vowel teams, inflectional endings, bossy “r”, contractions, and compound words.
