If your first or second grade students need spelling or phonics practice, these clip card activities will make great literacy centers, word work centers, or early finisher activities.
This hands-on set includes the following resources bundled together and offered at a discounted price:
CVC Clip Cards
CVC or CVCe? Clip Cards
Long Vowel Clip Cards
R-Controlled Vowel Clip Cards
Students will look at the picture on each card and use a clothespin to clip the correct spelling written on the side of the card. Students will have to carefully apply their knowledge of the spelling patterns to clip the correct spellings and will build their ability to visualize the correct spellings of these words through repeated practice. Clip cards are also a great way to build fine motor skills!
To prolong their use, I recommend laminating these cards or printing them on sturdy cardstock.
You can make these resources self-checking by placing a dot or sticker on the back of the card, or ask students to record their answers on the attached recording sheets. Two recording sheet options are included for each activity. One contains handwriting lines, the other does not. Choose the option that best meets the needs of your students. Answer keys are also included for your convenience.
