Do your students have trouble with decoding and encoding words as they read? If so, this is the first of twenty four phonics activity packets, which includes several worksheets and a project to assess students' understanding of each phonics skill. In this particular set, students learn about hard and soft c and g sounds while completing several worksheets, and completing a project.
In the project, students build four different flowers, by taking flower petals with various words on them, and determining if the words have a soft c, hard c, soft g, or hard g sound. Based on what they hear, students attach the various petals to the flower middles, which are labeled as hard c, hard g, soft c, and soft g. When students finish, they should have four flowers with 6 petals on each flower. Each word attached to the flower should follow the phonics rule specified in the middle. Finally, students attach a stem to each of their flowers and they are then finished.
