This is a set of phonics lessons that focuses on the spelling pattern for -oy. There are sections of blending onset and rime, segmenting onset and rime, segmenting words for individual sounds, and substituting initial sounds.
It is designed to provide students the opportunity to practice reading one syllable words fluently. These words will have the -oy chunks paired with consonants and consonant blends.
It is also designed to further practice fluency by providing an opportunity for students to read words with similar spellings. All this aids in reading and writing development. It helps with writing development because the students practice saying and hearing letter sounds and writing those respective letters.
This scripted lesson can be led whole class at the carpet area or in small groups. Large Century Gothic font used for readability. This lesson can be used at the kindergarten, first grade, and second level whole class or in a small group. This lesson can be used at the third grade level to provide students extra support and practice too.
Specific standards/objectives are listed after the title slide.
