Do you sometimes struggle to find the appropriate passage for your students when they need to practice reading connected text that features specific phonograms/graphemes? Your students may like to try these passages that include words with long vowels sounds.
The theme of this pack is the environment, so students may glean knowledge from the informational texts as they practice fluency and comprehension. The illustrated fluency cards include teacher’s notes that highlight the featured phonograms along with vocabulary information. Comprehension exercises focus on main ideas and vocabulary. The texts are at various reading levels. The passages may be especially useful for older elementary students who are learning long vowel phonograms explicitly (as in the Orton/Gillingham program). Some passages may be used as examples for work on text structure.
