This activity sheet encompasses the following:
English Language Arts Iowa Common Core Standards: RF.K.1.; W.K.2.; SL.K.2.; SL.K.3.; SL.1.6.; L.K.1.; L.1.1.
Mathematics Iowa Common Core Standards: K.CC.3.; K.CC.4.; K.CC.5.; K.OA.1.; K.OA.2.
5 activities on one page help students with the following:
Alphabet letter writing
Beginning, middle, and ending sounds
Missing sum or missing addend
Photographs, as opposed to clip art, are used as often as possible for real life association
My favorite: Use with Mimio or Smartboard. Take a screen annotation and insert to a new Mimio document. Have students work together to complete; discuss pitfalls as you go for immediate feedback.
Print one copy per student, place in plastic protective sheets and house in a binder. Reuse year after year.
Print enough for a small group vs. the entire class and place in protective sheets to reuse as often as needed.
The activity sheet has a lot of white space to help those who become frustrated with how much work is presented or for those with visual difficulties; however, I have had to further adapt these by cutting apart between sections (there are 3) to help students not feel overwhelmed by so many tasks.
Activities can be done in one session or divided among separate occasions. Sometimes I do one task as a mini review between transitions.
As with any activity, remember to use probing questions to dig deeper in your students' thinking, give timely feedback, and evaluate your students as they complete the activities to determine your next steps. This activity sheet can be done quickly (not recommended for students who are still obtaining the concepts but is recommended for students needing to further solidify their thinking) or drawn out with your own additions as it fits your classroom. You know your students best.
