This pack includes 30 decodable passages based on phonics concepts, specifically words with r-controlled vowels. These are great to use with your early readers who are working on decoding words.
Each passage includes an initial word work practice where students will decode the words with r-controlled vowels prior to reading in context. Students will then read the passage, decoding the same words with r-controlled vowels and reading sight words, in context. After, students will practice writing the words with r-controlled vowels when responding to the comprehension questions.
A colorful format is also provided, in addition to the b&w printable format, for projecting in your classroom, or on your computer.
A third option is also included with just the passage and black & white images in a full page format, with larger print and more spacing between the lines. This format is great for introducing the text, or if you just looking for some extra practice with the phonics concepts, in context.
There are 5 passages per r-controlled vowels focus, and 5 additional passages for a combination of words with r-controlled vowels.

These passages work great in small groups, whole group, one-on-one or sent home for extra help. If you have students who need help with decoding words with ending blends, this is a great way to get them to practice those words in and out of context.
The goal of this pack is to assist early readers in their decoding abilities and, in turn, their reading skills as well.
I hope you and your students love the passages and activities!
