This fun practice is guaranteed to teach the sound of "ph" phorever (forever) in one simple lesson. On the preview page, you will find the beginning sentences of a short entertaining story in which every word beginning with "f" now begins with "ph" instead. The story, "The Phoxes' Phood Problem" ("The Foxes' Food Problem") contains numerous words beginning with ph that can easily be translated into the correct words (which all begun with "f"). Students rewrite the story correctly and then fold a piece of paper into four boxes and draw a cartoon strip of the story.
Three advantages to this practice are: 1) Students find "decoding" the story enjoyable 2)The assignment keeps them engaged while others are in reading groups, etc. and 3) students internalize and never forget the phonics lesson regarding this sound. Teacher Answer Key included. Please see Preview Page.
