Read about how rhyme can help build reading fluency here.
Students will be listening, finding, sounding out, reading, copying and learning their sounds repeatedly in a fun way and will soon progress to writing sentences.
The poems focus heavily on repeated use of the sound and avoid the use of tricky, hard to read words that cause a lack of confidence and stifle fluency. The poems in Book 1 in particular are SIMPLE and aimed at getting children reading. If you want poems with lots of different words and sounds then these will likely be too easy for your needs. These give struggling students the exposure and practice they need. Book 2 uses slightly more unknown words but the focus is on repetition of the sound being learned.
Plenty of worksheets to reinforce learning. Also included is my PHONICS ASSESSMENT FORM as a freebie!
