These SIMPLE easy read rhyming poems are a quick, easy and efficient way to teach phonemes and blending of digraphs, phonograms, long vowels and vowel teams. Build fluency through hands-on learning. These poems are perfect for RTI, small groups, one-to-one, tutoring, EFL and ESL.
12 poems - 60 worksheets
Students will be listening, finding, sounding out, reading, copying and learning their sounds repeatedly in a fun way and will soon progress to writing sentences.
These poems focus heavily on repeated use of the sound and avoid the use of tricky, hard to read words that cause a lack of confidence and stifle fluency. The poems are SIMPLE and aimed at getting children reading. If you want poems with lots of different words and sounds then these will likely be too easy for your needs. These will give struggling students the exposure and practice they need.

All my poems RHYME and are SYLLABLE counted so that you can get a lovely rhythm going as you read and this really helps the children. I have only ever been able to find phonic poems that contain other words that struggling readers cannot read, leading to frustration and a lack of progress.
This first set of phonic poems, covering 12 digraphs/ dipthongs, is perfect for remediation and beginning readers. Each poem is illustrated, perfect for visual learners and involves both auditory and verbal learning styles through rhyme patterns. The worksheets are perfect for physical and kinaesthetic learners and promotes logical thinking. Rhyme helps children detect phonetic constituents of words and improves spelling.
