Phonics R-Controlled Vowel Flash Card Sticks
Students will practice;
1.) blending r-controlled vowel sounds
2.) reading r-controlled vowel words
3.) matching r-controlled vowel words to pictures.
Use these flash card sticks for memory practice every day. I like to begin my phonics lesson by holding up the sticks and having the students recite the sounds. Ex: Hold up the “barn” stick and students repeat: “AR in BARN A-R.” Repeat for all sticks.
You can also use these flash card sticks as an activity. Place a word stick in playdough & give the students picture sticks to choose from. Students must match the picture stick to the word stick. Another practice idea is to place the sticks in a cup. Have the students pick a stick and read the word or give you the sound.
